Massing Study Notes

Here are the specific instructions for how to set up revised massing
study models for smooth group electronic review this afternoon.

Setup Instructions

1) Each massing study model should be delivered in its own separate
DW document (not just in a separate phase of one document).

2) All massing studeis should be positioned in space so that they
register accurately with the most recent studio site model.

3) However, your massing study models should _not_ include a copy of
the studio site model. (See below for the process I plan to use.)

4) All massing models should include at least four good views, which
taken together show us the whole main story of the scheme.

5) Before you save the model the last time for handing in, set the
"View Control Sensitivity" values to "30" degrees for side-to-side
rotation, and to "60" pixels for forward and backward movement.

6) FYI, I plan to review the models by this process:

    a) I will open all three of someone's massing study models, b)
then paste a copy of the studio site model 'underneath' each massing
study model, c) then render each model and step through the saved
views in order, while the designer explains the main ideas behind the
scheme, d) after that I will move around the model freely as the
discussion develops.

Related Notes

- The names of your individual model files should be clear and
straightforward and should include your family name.

- The individual model files should be collected in a folder for
delivery. The folder should be named with the specified title, then a
dash, then your family name, as in:

          Massing Study-Matthews

- If you are handing in a revised massing study, and you use exactly
this folder name, it will replace any older massing study on the
server with the same name. This is good, because we have little
server space to spare at the moment.
